Points to Consider

Consider an Esplanade location or our usual behind Center Camp?
Shall we use the 'Public/Private' Camp Layout as of 2009?

G'day,

Wow I'm definitely digging the bracelet idea.
I'm all about the camp rules meeting and setting up schedules to keep the camp 'staffed'.
I've never used any sort of outdoor mobile shower type thing and I'm seems like there are some other cleanliness type camps that make their contribution to the community that way, so I'd go ahead and vote for no shower as well. I hope to embrace the dust at my first burn. It seems that the dust is a greater entity than myself and time spent fighting it would be time not spent enjoying the burn.

I have no idea if something like this could work at all, but perhaps a ground perimeter to at least suggest the camp boundaries? I was thinking maybe we could use some of the wrapping or covering or whatever extra materials there are that people use to bring things to the event...anchoring them around such a long perimeter might not be easy though Then maybe have a few EL Wire lights or little secured LED boxes set up around it every 10 or 20 ft for night visibility. something like...

__ or | = a light source
_-^-_ = EL Wire Arrow or other universal symbol letting people know 'ENTER CAMP HERE'

I think it'd give the camp a cool look at night and make us easy to pick out of the crowd. I'm thinking little clear low profile boxes with a couple $3 LEDs inside. I'm thinking something like an acrylic box with face down lights giving an ethereal glow or something; staked down to the playa securely. It'd make an extra job of going around and turning them on and off though so hopefully they'd last the whole week on one set of batteries. Something kinda sorta like this is what I'm thinking:

Cheaper and easier to transport materials like these, can be built into shape on site with a screw driver, some hinges and some screwed in metal side joints to stab through with a rebar stake.

Or that could all just be way too much trouble to bother with :?

Hi, I am bringing a tent, not sure about size but I think its a 2 man tent. I would love to share shade with someone. I can bring some items to build shade and would love to collaborate with someone. Anyone interested? 8)

Think about which way the wind blows when setting up your tent. It's usually from the direction of Gerlach (aka the umbilical).

Bring an extra bed sheet. Put it over everything in your tent. When you get back, lift it (And all the dust) up and out. Easy!

Maybe CS camp can get a few early entry volunteers to herd arrivals? Someone could have a "welcome, talk to me" sign that would explain to arrivals where to park, where to set up camp, etc. That would avoid annoying "good morning! Your tent is in the wrong place" situations. It would also help explain to people where stuff is in camp. Last year I had no idea there were showers or grey water pool.

Not sure if anyone looked to get wristbands for the camp..

I was thinking I would gift the camp silicone wristbands that we could wear if someone hasnt ordered any yet.
it would have have the name of the camp, BM Metropolis and maybe the location of the camp.

If i dont hear from anyone in the next few days then i will proceed with the order as I would like to get it in sooner rather than later
Also it will make it a whole lot easier to know who is and isnt in the camp from the get go. :)

agreed... an updated camp member list is needed.

I'm counting 34 in the 2010 camp members folder here... which includes at least 2 who won't be there. Did I miss something?
I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Klaire - please contact me privately to discuss any problems you see with the membership list.
I believe it to be a true reflection of paid up members.... let me know if I have made any mistakes.

@Panda - Great, silicone wristbands would be cool - maybe you'd like to consider ordering loads to give away as camp swag.
Once the initial camp-mates are wearing them then we'll all get to know each other real fast due to our smaller camp size this year.
Then, by the time the extras are given out as camp swag it wont matter.
Or, make members wristbands a different design and/or colour.

How many swag ones were you thinking spikes? I am thinking we can all have the same colors as most places have 100 minimum per type we would have a ton of extras of the camp ones just to fill the order.

I am thinking Red Band w/ Black debossed lettering

line 1 - Couch Burner Camp )'(

line 2 - BM Metropolis 5:00 & F

I think they will be nice to have and we can also give them to ppl we meet on the playa to come check out the camp since the address is on the bands.
the ink filled debossed bands are more expensive about 1.5 a band. a cost cutting thing would be to have color filled for camp members and printed or just debossed ones as swag.

Wristbands

Postby Spikes » Thu Jul 29, 2010 11:17 am

If this is your gift to the camp then all the choices are up to you!

If the minumum order is 100 then don't worry about having different designs/styles for members/non-members.
As I said before by the time we get around to gifting out the spares we'll all have introduced each other and know who the camp members are.
