Is there enough to warrant an Esplanade Placement?

travel workshop and stories

Postby silkkat813 » Mon Jun 28, 2010 5:03 am

ok looking at last year's schedule and think we need more events. So was thinking either Wed or Thurs we could host a travel workshop. Have people swap stories and give ideas of ways to travel. Help people understand CS and how it works. stuff like that. I was thinking of doing it around 1pm to 3pm? I will submit it tonight if no one objects. Anything to add?

ok submitted it, but changed it to 3-5. And made it Thursday. Figured it would give people the day to do stuff and maybe meet back before having dinner and then going out for the night. 2 hours sounds like a lot, but people can stop in and leave whenever they want.

I just want some people to commit to being there for at least an hour of it. Not too hard to sit around, drinking, and talking to others about traveling. Give people an idea of what our camp is about. Here is the post on the event page.

Alright, something in CS after i arrive! HEY lets suggest putting a keyword in our CS profiles so we can always find burner couches.. burning man works in couch search but not a 100% hit since burning & man are 2 seperate words.. maybe couchburners written together :D Ah, it's too much to remember!

It really helps people I explain CS to to have the website in front of them. I think it would be really helpful to have a few printouts of profiles -even if it has to be a generic one- and a screenshot of the couch search function for some more in-depth understanding of how to use CS for travel and for personal connection to likeminded people.

I am willing to do this... maybe with some tutorial notage or whatnot.. laminated?...

Just wondering if that would be kosher... since we're not 'officially connected' or whatever. I guess I'll do it anyways until I hear otherwise.

And I guess the same question applies to CS cards. 2 years ago Donna brought over a slew of 'em, and people who were interested in the project took one IF they wanted(NOT suggested for handing out to everyone-MOOP!). They would be really nice to have at such an event... people can take it home without trying to remember www.couchsurfing.org. Yea, seems simple now, but playaland can confuse you.... Does anyone have some to spare? I've given all of mine out since then.... and don't know if I can afford to re-up my stash by BM
I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll try and source some more cards....
and yes - they must not be handed out unless asked for.

As for laminates - sounds like a great idea.... I'll check that everything on that level is cool.
I am 90% certain there will be zero problems with it; but I'll check anyway and get back to ya.

Meanwhile go full steam ahead!

I got a lot of extra cards for people that want them. I gave out some last year as a way to stay in touch with people. Should we use profile printout of camp members? That way we can have permission. Use mine if you want.
